Happy new hair

golden blonde hair Leiden

My hair. Here’s the story.. I wanted a change in my life in terms of my hair. Not a major change, but I wanted to give my hair a true boost. To give it more volume, to give it more shape, to give it more interest, I wanted something different, yet wasn’t sure how to achieve it. Plus I wasn’t sure who could help me out in Leiden. I mean, I don’t let just anyone touch my hair you know. Quite accidently I got in touch with the two girls behind LOD – Level Of Detail – a brand new hair salon in the city center of Leiden. After visiting and having a cup of tea, I was convinced these two ladies were highly professional and thus good enough to take on the challenge with my hair. 😉 With the temperatures rising, I was definitely thinking about making a slight color switch for spring/summer. I wanted a natural-looking, multi-tonal effect to suit the beachy summer vibes I’ve spotted on Pinterest. As virgin in terms of hair coloring I was however a little scared. I didn’t want a too radical change for my hair and I didn’t want to mess up my natural appearance. The key with coloring thus was to work with my natural color on the parting. Linda and Lisette from LOD advised me to go a little lighter around my face, to allow an organic texture that won’t wind up looking stripey or over highlighted. Working a few pieces would provide a natural finish and controlled lightening. After a few hours of total relaxation I was thrilled to see the result.

Special thanks to LOD in Leiden (highly recommended). Oude Rijn 12, Leiden.

My name is Frederique and I run this personal style blog. After graduating from law school in April 2014 – University of Utrecht (The Netherlands), exchange: Uppsala (Sweden) and UC Berkeley (USA) – I built FAB le Frique from scratch and decided to spread my lifelong interest in fashion and lifestyle with the world (wide web). Taking a leap of faith, making a career transition, leaving a known and charted career path is scary. But if the only actual obstacle blocking me from doing what I’m truly passionate about is ‘fear’, I hereby conquer my fears and go forward with my passion.
